What's different about Chinese hotels?
Hotels will require your passport at check-in. A deposit is often requested, which can be paid by credit card or cash. Most mid-range and above hotels in Xi'an and Chengdu have English-speaking front desk staff.
Will hotel staff speak English?
In international hotels and boutique accommodations, yes. In smaller guesthouses, English may be limited. Your LVYV itinerary includes communication cards with key phrases.
How do I do laundry?
Most hotels offer laundry service. Self-service laundromats are less common but can be found in expat-friendly neighborhoods. Your itinerary will note nearby options.
What are the voltage and plugs?
China uses 220V, 50Hz. Plugs are Type A (two flat pins), Type C (two round pins), and Type I (three flat pins in a triangle). Bring a universal adapter.
